Carica papaya leaf extract: Carica papaya leaf extract increases the platelet count by strengthening bone marrow cells and preventing peripheral destruction of thrombocytes.

Carica papaya leaf extract administration improves bone marrow function and increases the glutathione level. It helps to increase the level of all blood cell precursors, particularly the megakaryocytes and the myeloblasts series, which results in the increase of the platelets and white blood cells within 72 hours. Also, as it has an erythrocyte membrane stabilizing effect, it markedly inhibits the hypo-tonicity-induced erythrocyte hemolysis.

Safety: Carica papaya leaf is nontoxic. L.D. 50 is ˃ 15 g/kg of body weight.

Tinospora cardifolia: As an immune modulator, it promotes leukocytosis with a predominant effect on neutrophils. It enhances the phagocytic and intracellular killing of macrophages and polymorphonuclear cells (PMNs). It stimulates the release of cytokines such as IL1 and IL2 and causes the proliferation of β-lymphocytes.

Andrographys paniculata: Andrographis paniculata has been effectively used in traditional Asian medicines for centuries and has been reported as having antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, choleretic, hypoglycemic, hypocholesterolemic, adaptogenic, hepato-stimulant and hepatoprotective effects. Andrographis paniculata or its constituents have also been used to treat cases of leptospirosis, pulmonary tuberculosis (especially the exudative type), tuberculosis meningitis, and acute pyelonephritis. In acute pyelonephritis, the results were reported to be similar to those obtained with nitrofurantoin, but with fewer adverse effects. A primary modern use of A. paniculata is for the prevention and treatment of the infections of the upper respiratory tract.

Dogs with acute and chronic bleeding responded well, clinically, in terms of activity, appetite and the progressive reduction in bleeding signs to the oral administration of Thrombup.

A significant increase in the platelet count from day two was observed.

Oral therapy with Thrombup proved to reduce mortalities in dogs suffering from thrombocytopenia.
